Meetings + Food + Santa Parade

Been awhile since my last update.  I've been doing okay, just busy with things.  I can't believe I've already completed 1/4 of my time here in Victoria.  It's been 2 months of lots of learning - on the job, things at home, managing my time.  Not exactly the easiest times but these situations only made me more desperate to turn to the Lord.  It's always been nice to receive Skype/phone calls from you all, it's very cherishing to me on this lonely island, haha.  I'll share some recent enjoyment in my bible reading then I've got lots of photos below.

1 Cor 13:4-8a:
Love suffers long. Love is kind; it is not jealous.
Love does not brag and is not puffed up.
It does not behave unbecomingly;
It does not seek its own things;
It is not provoked and does not take account of evil;
It does not rejoice because of unrighteousness,
But rejoices with the truth.
It covers all things, believes all things,
Hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never falls away.

Just appreciating the definition of God's love, and seeing how my human love falls way short of the love described here.  Only the divine love is eternal, unchanging, enduring.  Lord, increase our love for You.  May this love become the love toward You and others.

First meeting without sister Jean.  Nice to see Peter Lai around again!

Baked macaroni chicken casserole

Beef and spinach

Spaghetti

Alfredo Rotini with beef

The next few photos are from an annual parade in Victoria called the Santa Parade with thousands of people lined up on Government Street for an hour.  Reallly nice.  The pretty lights at night reminded me of Christmas time in the Philippines.

Dinosaurs and Christmas?  Not quite sure how they are related, haha.

Mostly parents and their little ones watching the parade.

Chinatown

Marching bands

Parliament buildings lit up at night -

Ferris wheel installed just for this event!

Horses in downtown.  Now you don't see that everyday in downtown Vancouver.

My favourite photo from the night.  Stunning views of the water + lit up buildings at night.

Don't be shy to comment, it's a good way to keep in touch with you.  Hope you're all doing well and can't wait to see you all around next month!!

  1. Hi Pat,

    Did you cook all the dishes? I am very impressed and proud of you. You really can cook.

    It seems quite early to have the Christmas parade, but I like the pictures. Thanks for posting them.

    I would like to share something I enjoy this week. Psalms 36:8-9
    "They are saturated with the fatness of Your house, and You caused them to drink the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.

    The fatness of God's house refers to the riches of Christ (Eph 3:8), the Spirit for us to drink is the river of God's pleasure and God the Father is the fountain of life and light.

    What I enjoy is even though we have been positioned to drin, we shall not drink unless we are thirsty. To drink the water of life there is the need of thirst. What a mercy to be thirsty for the Lord.

    Without the flowing of the water of life, our drinking is in vain. If we do not flow we shall not be able to continue drinking. The genuine drinking of the water of life depends on the flowing. Example, the water hose takes in water from the faucet and it flows out water. Both the inflow and the outflow are necessary. The receiving and the flowing takes place simultaneously. If we do not drink, we can not flow, and if we do not flow, we can not continue to drink. Only the flowing can keep the inner current moving, It is not the drinking the taking in that keeps the current going, it is the outflow of water.

    The more we speak, the more we shall flow. We should learn to speak to anything and everything. we can speak to our desk, bed,laptop or pillow. We must be those bubbling and welling up with life. The amount of inflow is in proportion to the amount of outflow. How much we flow determines how much of the living water we can drink. It is also helpful to sing to the Lord.

    This week I will practice to speak to anything at work. This will help me to exercise my spirit and to be in the Spirit to enjoy the Lord.

    May you enjoy the Lord more this week.
    love,
    mama

  2. The beef and spinach dish looks restaurant-quality. The other dishes look yummy too. Which one did you cook ? I'm glad that you're spending some time with some of your church college-age people in Victoria. Feel free to video chat with us via Gmail.

  3. Hi Pa and Ma, yes I made all those dishes. I cook pretty much all my meals throughout the week. I've improved a lot since Montreal!

    Thanks Ma for sharing your enjoyment. reminds me of Luke 1:53, the hungry He has filled with good things. once we've eaten and drank the Lord, we need to overflow.

    I'll try to video chat sometime this week Pa, maybe on the weekend.
