Beautiful Montreal

I mentioned to some of you that I was feeling sick starting Wednesday night. My cold-like symptoms went away, but my sore throat got worse so I decided to get it checked out today at a drop in clinic. The doctor diagnosed me with Pharyngitis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharyngitis). I'm taking a few anti-biotics now and I should be back to full health in a few days. Please continue to pray for a speedy recovery, and that I would continue to turn to the Lord :) Don't worry too much about me, I'm learning how to take care of myself!

Despite my sore throat, I still managed to enjoy parts of the city:

A trilingual meeting hall - awesome!

Christ Church Anglican Cathedral in the heart of downtown

Inside view. Some people were praying here.

Even the banks have interesting architecture!

Parts of Montreal remind me a lot of Paris.

Les Ailes De La Mode, the place where I'll probably do most of my shopping since it's right by the McGill metro/campus. It's nice, but I still like Metrotown better.

My professor said Montreal is the 7th most bike friendly place in the WORLD. #1 being the Netherlands. They have this neat bike rental system where you can pick up bikes along downtown (there are many) and drop them off at any post. Vancouver should have this too!!

A map of Montreal.

4 different Metro lines, but they are very very convenient. Most places are located right by Metro stations, so buses aren't really needed. And almost all saints live by Metro stations so it's super convenient for the churchlife!

And I forgot to post these the other day. Smilely cookies we ate at the prayer meeting :)

We also had a conference tonight for the saints in Montreal. The burden was on consecration and the homes. I was touched to see that the basis of our consecration is the Lord's purchase. We need to see that we do not belong to ourselves, but on the cross the Lord paid the highest price to obtain us (1 Cor. 6:20). Now he has the OWNERSHIP over us. Once we see this, we would voluntarily and even willingly give ourselves to the Lord, first for Him to work in our inner being, before doing any outward work for Him. Also I was touched that ONLY the Lord is the absolute One. We may fail, but we can continually look to the Lord as our burnt offering, the only One who is absolute for God and His purpose.

Many saints including myself stood up to publicly consecrate ourselves afresh to the Lord. It was so sweet to see many young people, college students, couples, and even families consecrate themselves in a specific way to the Lord. Even though we may forget, the Lord will never forget. He will remind us, and He will fulfill this consecration in us!

Please post comments and let me know how you are all doing! Thanks!!

  1. The purpose of our consecration to the Lord is to live to Him. Living to Him is higher than living for Him. When we live for Him, we and He may still be two, but when we live to Him, we and He must become one. When we live to Him, we take Him not only as our life but also as our person. In all our living and actions, we should cooperate with Him and allow Him to live Himself through us.

Day by by day, we must re-consecrate ourselves to the Lord, because He has bought us with His precious blood. We are His slaves and He is our Master.

  2. Looks great! Sorry I didn't know there were new posts up (now I know why sometimes I post, I don't get any responses!). I think there's a function to send automatic e-mail updates when you publish a new post.

Really like the pics. Hope you keep them coming. Makes us feel like we're there too :-)
