Before school picks up, I'll have lots of time to blog so I'll keep posting here to keep you all
updated before I get busy!!
Today was the final meeting for our conference and the topic was on preaching the gospel. I've picked up a fresh burden to learn the French language for the sake of the Lord's testimony.
After the Lord's table meeting, James, Naifu (2 of my housemates) spent some time with 2 young people today, Vanya and Koyla. We have a lot in common because they like playing guitar and basketball just as I do. After playing some guitar and basketball, we all made dinner together. We had noodles, chicken nuggets, and rotisserie chicken fried with garlic and onions (that was my contribution). The anti-biotics are working very well and I'm finally able to eat more types of food.
Koyla (left) and Vania (right) being silly in front of the camera. We enjoyed singing, "Mary poured out her love offering" together. Giving ourselves absolutely to the Lord is not a waste, but a fragrant testimony of His sweetness!
...a huge grey cloud came over us at the park and it started pouring rain all of a SUDDEN. We tried to outrun it but we got soaking wet. Note the difference in wetness of Naifu's tshirt in the previous pictures, haha.
I have no school tomorrow so tonight I am just spending some time to relax. I had a wonderful prayer time on the phone with my companion Dennis in Boston! Praise the Lord, we can pursue and encourage one another wherever we are.
I also forgot to mention, during my first week I did the following 'firsts' on my own: grocery shopping, laundry, and preparing a meal for others. I've realized how much effort it takes and I am really thankful now to Pa and Ma for doing these for me over all the years. I'm finally growing up!!
yay! so happy for you pat :)
ReplyDeletei'm really excited for you and glad that you have this opportunity to learn and be built with the saints there.
can i call your cell phone while you're in montreal and text you too?
-lou
Yes you can call my cell phone. I have a Canada-wide plan. On evenings (7pm) and weekends I get unlimited calling. Texting is fine as well.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see that you are having so much fun with the brothers. This is a good way to be blended with them. It sounds like you have a taste of doing practical daily things like cooking and laundry. To cook a dish requires a lot of time. Like today, I made 70 pcs empanada and it took me 4 hours to get it done.
ReplyDeleteHymn 350 I learned from the conference. Verse 1 is English version and Verse 4 is Chinese version.
My goal is God Himself, not joy, nor peace,
Nor even blessing, but Himself, My God.
Tis His to lead me there - not mine but His
At any cost, dear Lord, by any road.
One thing I know, God will never be wronged.
One thing I do, that I may gain Him.
From day by day, God is my only need
At the end of my reward, God is my glory.
Just as you are learning French, I pick up my Chinese Bible to refresh my Mandarin
To be able to speak Mandarin so I can shepherd some YP who don't understand English very well, and to shepherd some Old Chinese saints.
I guess it's a smaller group in Montreal. Are Koyla and Vania brothers ? I'm glad you're having fun there with baketball and guitar. Anybody in your group play tennis? I have switched to practicing tennis at 7:15 to around 8:00 in the morning now that classes had started at Windermere. By the way, I mailed the 2 basketball camp certificates this morning.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful that you're experiencing all those firsts, while still having brothers and sisters around you. Best way to do it!
